During the meeting in the old synagogue in Nowy Sącz on 28th September participants had the opportunity to listen to the lecture by rabbi Avi Baumol, taste new year's delicacies prepared by Justyna Michalska and take part in Hebrew calligraphy workshops led by Aleksandra Jach.

On Monday, 17.02.2014 the first meeting of the Institute for Reseach in Polish Dress. We have meet in a nice group of clothing history lovers in the quarters of SHS (Art Historians Association) in Kraków. First lecture "Painters of theatre - costume in polish opera and ballet in 20th century" was given by mgr Katarzyna Sanocka - graduate of the Art History Institute of Jagiellonian University.

Jagiellonian furgowns. A tale of the most precious royal pieces of clothing from Władysław Jagiełło to Sigismund II Augustus. Lecture given by dr Maria Molenda on 19.12.2012 in the Royal Castle in Warsaw. On the same day dr Maria Molenda also gave a seminar for teachers called "Court's splendour. Clothing of the Jagiellons in 15th and 16th century". Lectures were part of the events surrounding the Europa Jagiellonica 1386-1572 exgibition.

Within the Carpathian Adventure Map project, lead by the Carpathian Europe Institute, dr Maria Molenda has prepared a tourist trail for the amateurs of historic clothing. The trail leads through the localities of Sącz region and of Prešovský kraj (Slovakia), in which there are many interesting antiquities, ilustrating the early fashion from the Middle Ages to the beginning of 20th century.

On 14th June in Jan Matejko's House, a lecture by dr Maria Molenda entitled "Dress the fair sex - on the clothing of women in Jan Matejko's paintings" took place. "Thursdays at Matejkos'" series of meetings in the house of Matejko family brings up issues, connected with the artistic creativity and life of the Artist, in relation to the collections of the Museum.

Reconstruction of the attire of Olbracht Łaski

On 27 IV, in Kežmarok, a conference, dedicated to the Łaski family and to the city of Kežmarok (Slovakia), took place. On that occasion Nomina Rosae, together with the Maymerlin company, has created a reconstruction of the attire of that adventurous magnate for the Castle Museum. Attire is composed of a delia and a żupan, sewn from silken velvets.

7th edition of the Labirynth of History Moscow 1612

7th edition of the Labirynth of History programme has come to an end. This year its subjects focused around polish armed expedition to Moscow at the beginning of 17th century. Our notable guests were prof. D. Karnauchow, dr M. Drozdrowski, dr W. Walczak, dr A. Krakowiak, dr Madej Centarowska with her students, Jan Korwin Kochanowski and Camerata Cracovia ensemble.

On 20th April, at 5 PM, in the Regional Museum in Nowy Sącz a vernissage of the "Time of conflicts. Rzeczpospolita and Moscow at the turn of 16th and 17th centuries" took place. The audience listened to a short joint lecture of dr Beata Biedrońska-Słotowa and dr Maria Molenda on the topic of Polish and Russian fashion in the time of Dymitriads.

A series of lectures by dr Maria Molenda "Under the coat of darkness - stories of amazing costumes of phantoms of human imagination"

In November 2011 and February 2012 in the Gallery of 19th Century Polish Art in Sukiennice dr Maria Molenda gave four lectures dedicated to the symbolics of clothing in 19th-century and the beginning of 20th-century paintings, steampunk fashion inspired by the 19th century and i.a., costumes from gothic novels and movies.

"A wind-blown shroud. Creations of demonic-like figures in sources and iconography from antiquity to 18th century."

"Old-fashioned clothing has a demonic taste to it. Costumes of demonic-like figures in theatre, ghotic horror movies, comicbooks and concept art projects."

Among the secrets of the city and the people

In December 2011 in the city hall a display of ten attires, presenting well-known and less known characters from the history of Nowy Sącz was opened. The exhibition was carried out thanks to the donation given by the city of Nowy Sącz.

From 14th April in the Old Synagogue Gallery (Regional Museum in Nowy Sącz) an exhibition of extraordinary photographs authored by Piotr Droździk, documenting the religious practices of Hasidic Jews is available for visiting.

What a wonderful world. A multimedia journey through the music and art of 19th and 20th century.

What a wonderful world. A multimedia journey through the music and art of 19th and 20th century.

"What a wonderful world..." is an educational project, crowned with a concert by Miroslaw Witkowski, connected with vocal workshops and short historical presentations. It has premiered on 16. September 2011 in an auditorium of the Public Music School in Nowy Sącz.

Project supported by the President of Nowy Sącz as a part of the support for the initiatives for out-of-programme education. With cooperation of Fryderyk Chopin's Public Music School of 1st and 2nd level in Nowy Sącz.
